To work out approximately how much filling you need its best to know the height, width and depth of your bean bag.
Inches to cubic ft.
If your bean bag measures 30” High x 28" Deep x 20” wide, you would do the following calculations:
30 x 28 x 20 = 16800
16800 ÷ 1728 (1728 is the number of cubic inches in a cubic ft)
= 9.72
You will need 10 cubic ft of Polystyrene Beads to fill your bean bag.
If your Bean Bag measures 76cm high x 71cm x 51cm, you would do the following calculations:
76 x 71 x 51 = 275196
275196 ÷ 28317 (28317 is the number of cubic centimetres in a cubic ft)
= 9.71
You will need 10 cubic ft of Polystyrene beads
Some bean bags will ask you to buy a certain weight of beans to fill it, bean bag filling is very light it weighs around 300grams per cubic ft (without packaging) the following calculation example should help you work out how much you will need.
If you needed 3 kilos (3000grams) of beads:
3000 ÷ 300
You will need 10 cubic ft of Polystyrene Beads

If you needed 560 litres to fill your bean bag
560 ÷ 28.31 (28.31 is the number of litres in a cubic ft)
= 19.78
You will need 20 cubic ft of Polystyrene Beads
